My guess is that Oregon’s reputation of being a hippy state comes from my parents’ generation and the politically active university students of the 60’s and 70’s, combined with images of the Oregon Country Fair, University of Oregon’s reputation for being a stoner liberal arts school and our own kind of unique ‘get outside and be with nature’ mindset.
